About Us

The University and College Union (UCU) is a national union that works to support staff in higher and further education. Each member of UCU belongs to a local branch.

Here at Sussex we support over a thousand members. We want as many people as possible to join the union. Strength in numbers means strength in negotiating for the best possible terms and conditions for staff.

We represent staff who work across the Schools and in Professional Services, as well as post-graduate researchers, building solidarity across these groups.

We are a strong union branch with a vibrant community of representatives and members working collectively to reclaim Sussex as a more equitable, healthy and inclusive place to work and thrive.
